Delivering Training at Village Level

Five village leaders/resource persons from each village will be provided with training support. They will be selected from different institutional levels, such as village council representatives, VNRC representatives as well as local resource persons and champions. In each of 12 districts supported, 6 villages will be targeted for intensive training. An additional batch of 72 villages will be targeted from a further 12 districts, once the capacity building programme has been developed and refined. This “second round” of capacity building will be offered at a subsidized rate to paying clients (such as NGOs, donor funded projects or government institutions). In addition to skills and capacity development around themes related representatives will be provided with skills and tools with which to lobby for more effective service delivery and responsive policies. 6 villages per district will be targeted.

The selected villages will be invited at district level. Villages will be selected based on their experience with PFM / REDD+. Some will have more experience, some will have less experience. Participants at village level will come from VNRC, village leaders, or villagers with potential. There will be a situational analysis. From each district we expect to have 4 trainers, who will join hands with one participant from the ToT / Curriculum Development (field officer from MJUMITA) to support at village level. They will be trainers of trainers. What is the necessary level of knowledge / skills to be a trainer at village level. Implementation at village level will be combined with livelihood activities (small grant program). We need to know what the expected knowledge and skills for the people are to implement. Based on the experience there are three levels (illiterate, read / write, secondary education) Two training curricula for the groups (levels) have been prepared, FTI tutor in collaboration with RECOFTC and MJUMITA will conduct training at District Level and the trainees of the district level training will then work with MJUMITA to train Villagers
